'A TOOTHLESS GRIN'

A toothless Grin references the idea of a void as an uneasy feeling of emptiness in our everyday lives, caused by constant digital media consumption and the corresponding alienation from the natural world. The film explores how the digital has been shaping our relation to nature, its representation and our experience of it.

The perspective oscillates between the offline world, pinnacled as nature, and an indoor scenario. While the natural outside world becomes increasingly mechanized, deformed and finally fully abstracted through the employment of machine learning GANs, the protagonist becomes increasingly absorbed and displays signs of an estrangement from their surroundings, others, and even themselves.
