'Through these eyes'

‘Through These Eyes’ is an experimental documentary short film, capturing the first hand impressions of the filmmaker living in Tokyo, Japan over the course of 5 months.

 

Filmed on iPhone 6, the choice of a hardly noticeable recording device allowed for genuine moments to be captured in their poetic authenticity. The viewer is invited to float like a ghost amongst houses and people, observing strangers from the shelter of the invisibility of the first-person format.

 

A portrait of curious eyes and tracing steps. Fleeting moments, chance encounters, dancing light rays. A wonderfully naive view upon a wondrously different place. A summer breeze in October, lightness and an appreciation for the mundane, which is oftentimes only visible ‘through the eyes’ of a temporary visitor.
